Sheltering Dreams, One Home at a Time
In the heart of Kashmir, where winters are unforgiving and rainfall relentless, hundreds of families are forced to live in fragile tin sheds—structures that offer little protection against the region’s harsh climate. As temperatures dip below freezing and monsoon rains pour down, these makeshift homes become unsafe, unhealthy, and unlivable.
Project Ashiyaana is our heartfelt response to this crisis.
This initiative is dedicated to constructing permanent, safe, and secure homes for families who currently live in such dire conditions. Beyond providing shelter, these homes restore dignity, stability, and hope—essentials for any human being to thrive.
Our mission began with Mohammad Yousuf’s family in the village of Malmoh, who were living without access to even the most basic infrastructure. As part of our rehabilitation efforts, we commenced construction for their new home on April 15, 2023. This marked the beginning of what we hope will become a movement—a commitment to ensuring that no family in Kashmir has to endure the brutality of the elements without a roof strong enough to protect them.
While the construction of these homes poses logistical and financial challenges, the reward is immeasurable. Every home we build is a step towards a more humane, just, and compassionate society.
Together, we can build more than homes—we can build futures.
